tierra del fuego national park

duration:  4 hours

Just a short drive from Ushuaia finds us in the awesome and wild Tierra del Fuego National Park. Bordering Beagle Channel, our visit here offers us a marvellous opportunity to see some of the world’s most unique and isolated plants and wildlife.

The National Park – comprising of lakes and rivers, glaciers and forests, rocks and mountains – is home to a large variety of land birds. These include the Antarctic Giant Petrel, the Southern Fulmar, the Great Glebe, the Kelp Goose, Imperial and Rock Cormorants, Streamer Ducks, Kelp Gulls, the South American Tern, the Black Oyster Catcher, the Snowy Sheatbill and the Antarctic Skua.

The stark, grey and angular remains of forests devastated by fires many years ago appear as statues in the green countryside, while perfectly preserved sites hold the history and secrets of native Yaghan Indians, intrepid English missionaries and the inmates of the old penal settlement.
